Housebuilders, Mactaggart and Mickel, plan to create a family home at the former Rowallandale Kennels in East Renfrewshire, Scotland, at a property which had fallen into disrepair.
Rowallandale House, on the outskirts of the village of Waterfoot in East Renfrewshire, is our contemporary reimagination of a traditional Scottish farmhouse steading which is integrated into the landscape and captures the surrounding views.
The proposal consists of three distinct but connected volumes around a central courtyard. By cladding each in a different material (Caithness Stone, black vertical timber and Corten Steel cladding), they are each given a distinct identity. Views of the surrounding landscape are framed through thoughtfully placed window openings. The facilities include 5 bedrooms, a bathroom, a main ensuite and an external open deck, allowing the proposed dwelling to integrate further with the natural landscape.
