This competition entry for Kibble Wellbeing Centre takes a holistic approach to showcase our considered attitude towards healing.
These proposals for Kibble Wellbeing Centre aspire to create a healing journey which evokes the experience of a labyrinth which, unlike a maze, has only one path in and out. The design promotes a calming environment to guide young people through a clear route to recovery and the outside world.
Houses are modelled on, look like, and function as a home, not as a ward or secure facility. Each ‘home’ connects to the communal space and includes a variety of recreational and breakout spaces to allow the households and each young person’s care team to come together. Discrete links to ‘quiet’ places also allow young people to take a break from the group dynamic when not in their own private bedrooms.
