This single T-shaped building of 65 apartments in Glasgow’s East End takes its lead from the neighbouring ‘Home for the Future’ masterplan while being sensitive to Grade A listed buildings nearby.
Charlotte Street in the Carlton area of Glasgow near Glasgow Green is a 7-storey residential development featuring 65 (1, 2 and 3-bedroom) apartments that aims to create a new sustainable urban community for residents.
The site, which is close to several Grade A listed buildings, is neighboured by ‘Homes for the Future’ – a masterplan developed for the 1999 Year of Architecture that had earmarked the Charlotte Street area in its second phase but which was never realised.
The design creates a new modern neighbourhood by including an elevated communal green space that can be used for social gatherings as well as additional private roof terraces providing outdoor cooking space and seating orientated to offer views south towards Glasgow Green and the River Clyde.
